관계부사와 that

This is the place that he was born.

이곳은 그가 태어난 곳이다.

 

The baby was born on the day that I left.

그는 내가 떠난 날 태어났다.

 

Is this the reason that you were born there?

이것이 네가 거기에서 태어난 이유니?

 

Tell me the way that you painted it.

네가 그걸 그렸던 방법을 말해줘.

여기서 that 은 where, when, why, how 등 관계부사를 대신할 수 있다

허나 선행사가 명확하게 장소, 시간, 이유, 방법(= place, time, year, day, reason, way 등)의 명사일 때 쓰이고

이때 선행사는 생략할수 없다.

*단, how 관계부사는 유의할것이 있는데 (the) way와 how는 함께 같이 쓰이지않는다.

둘중 하나만 쓰이거나 밑에 아래 예문처럼 쓰이기도 한다.
